Set Up Memside on ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok in 2 Minutes

ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok are widely used AI apps. Their models are strong, but your work still often gets split across separate chats.

Memside helps by giving these apps a shared continuity layer. You can save checkpoints, rules, project context, and useful memories in Memside. Then ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok can retrieve that context when you ask.

This means you do not have to copy-paste the same background, export full chats or explain your preferences again and again. A simple request like "Continue from my Memside checkpoint" or "Use my latest Memside memory for this project" can help the AI pick up where you left off.

The setup is simple. For ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok, you can connect through OAuth, so you do not need to paste a Memside API key into these apps.

Note: We are working toward dedicated app-store listings for supported AI apps so this setup can become easier over time.

First step: Sign up for Memside

  1. Go to www.memside.com

  2. Sign up with your Google account.

  3. Keep your Memside account ready for the authentication step.

Connect Memside to ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT on desktop or in your browser.

  2. Click the Profile icon and open Settings.

  3. Open Plugin** or Security, depending on the interface shown.

  4. Scroll down and turn on Developer mode.

  5. Close Settings.

  6. Open Plugins from the left panel.

  7. Click the plus button in the upper-right corner.

  8. Choose the option to add a custom plugin.

  9. Enter the Memside plugin details.

Use these values:

  • Name: `Memside`

  • MCP Server URL: `https://api.memside.com/mcp/`

  • Authentication: `OAuth`

Then confirm the setup and complete the OAuth connection.

ChatGPT will ask you to sign in and authenticate with your Memside account. You do not need to paste a Memside API key into ChatGPT for this custom app flow. After authentication, Memside should appear in the ChatGPT plugin area. Restart ChatGPT once if the plugin does not appear immediately.

Important: Keep Developer mode enabled in ChatGPT. If Developer mode is turned off, the custom plugin may stop being available.

Connect Memside to Claude

  1. Open Claude on desktop or in your browser.

  2. Click your profile icon.

  3. Open Settings.

  4. Go to Connectors.

  5. Click Add custom connector.

Use these values:

  • Name: `Memside`

  • MCP Server URL: `https://api.memside.com/mcp/`

Click Add.

When Claude asks for authentication, sign in with your Memside account using the same email you registered with. Restart Claude once after setup.

After restart, Memside should be available as a connector in Claude. Once the connector is added and authenticated on Claude desktop or web, it can also be available on your Claude account on mobile, depending on Claude's current connector support.

Connect Memside to Grok

  1. Open Grok on desktop or in your browser.

  2. Click your profile icon.

  3. Click on Connectors.

  4. Click New connector.

  5. Click on Custom.

Use these values:

  • Name: `Memside`

  • MCP Server URL: `https://api.memside.com/mcp/`

Click Add.

When Grok asks for authentication, sign in with your Memside account using the same email you registered with.

After authentication, Memside should be available as a connector in Grok. Restart Grok once if the connector does not appear immediately.

What you can do after setup

Once three apps can access Memside, you can use them together without starting from zero each time.

For example:

  • brainstorm in ChatGPT, save the useful decision, then ask Claude or Grok to review it

  • create a checkpoint in Claude, then ask ChatGPT or Grok to continue from it later

  • create an article using ChatGPT or Claude, then ask Grok to create the article hero image

  • keep the same operating rules available to all three apps

  • save project context once instead of repeating it in every new chat

This works best when you save the context that should carry forward, not the whole conversation. Memside keeps the useful parts separate from the temporary chat noise.

The result is simple: less repetition, better continuity, and more consistent help from whichever AI app you use next.

FAQ

Do I need a Memside API key for ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok?

No. These connector flows use OAuth, so you sign in with your Memside account instead of pasting an API key into the AI app.

What URL should I use for the connector?

Use this MCP server URL: https://api.memside.com/mcp/

What if Memside does not appear after setup?

Restart the AI app once and check the connector settings again. For ChatGPT, also keep Developer mode enabled and check the Plugins area.

Can this work on mobile?

It can, depending on the AI app's current connector support. Set it up first on desktop or web, then open the mobile app and start a new chat. Ask the AI to check whether Memside is connected. If the connector is available on mobile, the AI can run a simple connection check and confirm the Memside account it is connected to.
